Rock Mechanics

Rock Mechanics

Rock mechanics is an important area of geotechnical engineering as it is a theoretical and applied science that concerns the physical behavior of rocks and rock masses.
Slopes, tunnels, dam foundations and surface structures require the characterization of the rocks in question and the analysis of their reaction to the stresses to which they are subjected. Triaxial and uniaxial rock tests with tests and parameters such as Elastic modulus, Young's Modulus, Poisson's ratio, Brazilian test are effective methods in determining the characterization of rocks.
