Standards: EN 1097-6, BS 812
Used to determine the specific gravity and water absorption of fine aggregates.
Made of stainless steel.
Weight: 500 g approx.
Sand Absorption Test:
This test is executed whether the fine aggregate is saturated.
First, the fine aggregate is washed in a No:200 sieve and kept in water for 24 hours in a suitable container.
After 24 hours, the material that comes out of the water is dried in its natural environment or with a dryer and left until it becomes saturated.
To understand whether the material is saturated, the Sand Absoprtion Test is performed.
The material is filled into the sand absorption cone, the overflowing part of the cone is cleaned.
With the tamper of the sand absorption cone, 25 free falls are made from 5 mm, when the falls are finished, the sand absorption cone is lifted upwards, the material has taken the shape of the sand absorption cone.
If the material is dispersed when touched with the fingertip, it means that the material has become saturated.
