M4 and M4EC Radiation Dose Meter are ergonomic, general purpose devices that detect alpha, beta, gamma and x-ray in 3 selectable measuring ranges.
With each scan, the red count light flashes and a beep sounds. The M4EC model can do more linear reading for gamma and x-ray. (over 40 keV)
M4: 1.5-2.0 mg/cm2 thick, halogen-quenched uncompensated Geiger Müeller (GM) tube with thin mica window tube.
M4EC: Geiger Müeller (GM) tube with 1.5-2.0 mg / cm2 thickness, thin mica window tube, halogen-quenched energy compensated, 2 mm thick sidewall filter.
Energy Sensitivity
1000 CPM/mR/hr (Cs137).
The only difference between M4EC and M4 is; for gamma and x-rays, the energy response from the detector sidewall is 40 keV to 100 keV +61% to -26%; It is between +35% and -17% in the range of 100 keV to 1.3 MeV.
Working Range
0-5, 0-5, 0-50 mR/hr
0-500, 0-5,000, 0-50,000 CPM or
0-5, 0-50, 0-500 µSv/hr (SI Unit Option)
Sensibility
Usually ± 15% of reading (Cs137)
