Carbonation Test

Product Code : C375-02N

After the concrete is poured, external effects it is exposed to, significant changes occur in the material characteristics, including carbonation.
Carbonation is the reaction of carbondioxide, which is in the free state in the air, with the cement whose hydration has started in humid environments.
The rebar in concrete is corroded on the surface of the concrete with the carbonation of the concrete.
When the rebar is corroded, the bonding force between the concrete and the rebar weakens and the concrete strength decreases.
The carbonation tester in concrete enables the carbonation depth of the concrete to be measured from the surface.

The set consists of:
-phenolphthalein solution (1000 ml)
-demineralized water (5000 ml)
- depth measurement gauge
-2 wash bottles with 250 ml capacity

The surface of the concrete specimen under test is sprayed with phenolphthalein solution to detect the loss of alkalinity associated with carbonation.
The risk of carbonation induced corrosion can be measured, if correlated with the concrete cover to reinforcement.
Weight: 6 kg approx.
